Dear Families,
We are committed to meeting the needs of our learners, and I’d like to take a moment to share with you an important aspect of our teaching approach: differentiated instruction.
What is Differentiated Instruction?
Differentiated instruction is a teaching philosophy that recognizes the diversity of learners in our classrooms. Simply put, it means tailoring instruction to meet individual needs. Whether it’s adjusting the content, the process, the product, or the learning environment, our goal is to help every student succeed, no matter their starting point.
Every student has unique strengths, interests, and learning styles. Some may grasp concepts quickly, while others may need more time or different strategies. Differentiated instruction allows our teachers to provide multiple pathways to learning so that each student can thrive at their own pace and in their own way.
In our classrooms, you might see:
|
|
|
- Students working in small groups based on readiness or interest
- Varied assignments for the same topic to challenge students appropriately
- The use of technology, visuals, or hands-on activities to support different learning styles
- Flexible grouping that changes as students grow and progress
|
|
|
Differentiated instruction helps ensure that students are not bored with material that is too easy, nor overwhelmed by content that is too difficult. Instead, each child is appropriately challenged and supported, leading to greater engagement, confidence, and academic growth.
We are blessed to have a dedicated Learning Support teacher, Mrs. Shelly Birenbaum. Mrs. Birenbaum works closely with our teaching staff to ensure that needs are being met. Our public school district also assists us with special needs, like speech for example.
We understand that parents are essential partners in the learning process. We encourage parents to share their child’s interests and strengths with the teacher(s). Thank you for your continued support and for trusting us with your child’s education.
Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Amy Nelson
