Dear Families,
Recently I had the privilege of serving on an accreditation team for another Catholic school. I was asked to look over the evidence that this school shared regarding mission and Catholic identity. During this process, it made me reflect even more on the importance that Catholic identity has on a Catholic school. It is at the heart of who we are as a school community. It is reflected in the way we pray, learn, serve, and care for one another each day. Through our words and actions, we strive to follow the example of Jesus and live out the Gospel with compassion, kindness, forgiveness, and love.
Catholic education nurtures the whole child by forming both the mind and the heart. We encourage our students to grow in faith, develop strong moral character, seek truth, and recognize the dignity and worth of every person. In our classrooms and throughout our school, students are invited to use their God-given gifts to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Our Catholic identity is also expressed through our commitment to service. For example, collecting non-perishable food items for the Plymouth Food Pantry.
By supporting those in need, welcoming others, practicing generosity, and working for the common good, we help students understand that faith is lived through action. Each small act of kindness provides an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love. In following our mission, it is our hope that our students become faithful disciples of Christ. I am grateful for the support of both STA Parish and SJB Parish, for the teachers and support staff, for families, and for Father Subi in helping to form our students to become disciples of Christ. Have a beautiful upcoming weekend!
Blessings,
Mrs. Amy Nelson
