Principal's Message

Dear Families,

I am writing to share information about the NWEA MAP Growth testing our students in Kindergarten through 8th grade participate in every school year. Testing began in several grades this week.

MAP Growth is a computer-based assessment that helps us understand each student’s current academic strengths and areas for growth in reading and mathematics. The assessment is designed to measure individual progress over time rather than simply compare students with one another.

The results provide teachers with valuable information that helps them plan instruction, set appropriate learning goals, identify areas where students may need additional support, and provide enrichment when students are ready for greater challenges. Teachers can also use the results to monitor growth throughout the school year and adjust instruction to better meet each student’s needs.

We appreciate your support in helping your child approach testing with a positive attitude. Please encourage your child to do their best, get a good night’s sleep, and remember that the assessment is one of several tools we use to support their learning and development.

Thank you for attending parent/teacher conferences. I appreciate your continued partnership in supporting your child’s education. Enjoy the upcoming long weekend!

Yours in Christ,

Mrs. Amy Nelson

October Virtue

Hard to believe October is already here! Happy Fall to you al!

As we continue our Virtues in Practice for the year of Faith, the virtue for October is Reverence. Reverence is showing your deepest respect for God and the things of God. When we have the virtue of reverence, we show in our words and actions that we have respect for all that has to do
with God. This includes showing reverence towards others, because we are all made in His image and likeness.

October is also anti-bullying month. SJB students and staff will take the anti-bullying pledge this month and agree to join together to stop bullying in our school. We believe that everybody should enjoy our school equally, feel safe, secure and accepted.
Have a great month!

The Crayon Initiative

The Crayon Initiative is a nonprofit organization that collects old, broken, and unwanted crayons, melts them down, and remanufacturers them into new, specialized crayons for children in hospitals. The Plymouth Woman's Cub has dropped off a bucket to collect these old and broken crayons. Please drop off any old and broken crayons into this bucket in the school office throughout the school year. Thank you for your help with this initiative.
